Doctor Irene Papageorgiou graduated from the Medicine School of Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and she also completed the Master of Science Postgraduate Program in Hepato-Pancreato-Biliary Surgery, at Democritus University of Thrace. She served as a countryside doctor from 2006 to 2008 and as a resident in general surgery till December 2010. She completed her residency at the 2nd Department of Pediatric Surgery of A.U.TH and obtained the specialty of the Pediatric Surgeon on January 2016. After that, Doctor Irene worked as a consultant Pediatric Surgeon at the 1st Dept of Pediatric Surgery A.U.TH for two years, while, at the same time she participated at the education of the Department’s medical students.
During the residency and after completing her specialty, Doctor Irene Papageorgiou participated in a large number of greek and international congresses, as a presenter of an important number of scientific projects and also as an invited speaker. Moreover, she completed a significant number of postgraduate courses with focus in gastrointestinal surgery and mainly in minimal invasive and laparoscopic surgery and pediatric urology, including the “Videosurgery in Pediatric Urology” advanced course at IRCAD institute, Strasburg. Finally, she participates as an author in a number of studies published in international scientific journals.
At present, Doctor Irene Papageorgiou works as a specialist Pediatric Surgeon at Thessaloniki, Paphos and Limassol, with special interest in laparoscopic and minimal invasive techniques.
