Doctor Apostolos Fountas specialises in the diagnosis, prevention and treatment of many orthopaedic diseases: 

Fractures, trauma
Traumatic injuries of the upper and lower extremities using the latest osteosynthesis techniques in adults and children.

Treatment of soft tissue injuries such as tendon splits and complex infected wounds.

Microsurgical expertise
Conservative treatment of tendon and nerve disorders with special sutures and microsurgical procedures, e.g. carpal tunnel syndrome, De Quervain's disease 

Arthroplasty of joints
Specialised treatment of primary arthropathy of the hip and knee by means of a conservative approach to the disease, up to special metal prostheses (total arthroplasty of the hip and knee) in severe cases.

Spinal disorders in adults and children
Adults: diagnosis and assessment of conditions such as cervical syndrome, lumbosacralgia and herniated discs

Children: during his training at the Clinic of Scoliosis and Spinal Diseases of the JANEIU General Hospital, Dr. Apostolos obtained a complete knowledge of the treatment of scoliosis in children with the help of specially designed scoliosis therapists.

Sports trauma
Diagnosis and treatment of knee and hip injuries in athletes.  Use of PRP (PLATELET RICHPLASMA) for chronic tendinopathies such as Achilles tendinopathy or enhancing its surgical fusion, epicondylitis of the elbow, patellar tendinopathy, patellar tendinopathy, serovaginitis of the greater trochanter. As in plantar fasciitis (heel spur) and muscle injuries (contusions).


Doctor Apostolos Fountas graduated from the Medical University of Varna, Bulgaria. After graduation, he continued his practice and internship at the Athens Military Hospital in Athens, Greece, deepening his knowledge in traumatology and abdominal surgery. After Doctor Apostolos continued his residency practice in orthopaedic surgery and traumatology at the Piraeus-Tzaneio General Hospital, Greece, where he trained in a wide range of procedures and emergency medical care. As part of his specialisation he was practiced at KAT Hospital in the Department of Microsurgery as well as in the Vascular Surgery Department. Doctor Apostolos Fountas has also completed a one-year fellowship at the Orthopaedic Clinic at the Aglaia Kyriakou Paediatric Hospital in Athens in the field of paediatric accidents and chronic diseases. In parallel with his training, he has been involved in the diagnosis, prevention and treatment of scoliosis together with Dr Theodoros Grivas (coordinating director of the Department of Orthopaedics and Traumatology at the Tzaneio General Hospital). The department conducts mass examinations in schools in the Piraeus district for scoliosis, kyphosis and other deformities of the musculoskeletal system. After passing the relevant examinations, Doctor Apostolos Fountas has been qualified as a specialist in orthopaedic surgery in the Prefecture of Piraeus, Greece. Now Doctor Apostolos Fountas has private practice and provides services in Nicosia and Larnaca, Cyprus.
